Arts & Environment

A picture paints a thousand words . . .

A&E - What They Do

The Arts and Environment Committee is a subcommittee of the Liturgy Commission. Their task is to creatively express the liturgical seasons of the year in the church environment through the use of color, texture and visual art. When you see a banner, or a flower arrangement, or a change in the colors and style of decoration, odds are the A&E Committee had something to do it.

Who They Are

The members of the Arts & Environment Committee are members of the Parish with an interest and aptitude in visual arts, design and craft skills. They work together to make the most of their individual skills and gifts. These skills include, but are not limited to: painting, drawing, engineering design, woodwork, fabric work, sewing, photography and so on.

How To Get Involved

There are two levels of involvement.

  • The Committee - this is the group who studies the liturgical seasons and designs and plans what to do. They meet on an as-needed basis throughout the year The commitment can be as casual or as involved as you wish it to be.
  • The Workers - These are people with various useful skills from sewing to climbing ladders who help out either on certain projects, or when the church is actually being decorated, especially at Easter and Christmas.
